Description
Custom Engraved Colt 1860 Army Percussion Revolver.Serial no. 23219 [barrel, frame and triggerguard; cylinder #354], .44 caliber, 8-inch round barrel that reads ADDRESS COL. SAML COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA. Cut for shoulder stock. Silver-plated finish with Mexican Eagle two-piece Bird's-head grips. Nicely done but custom scroll-engraving to frame, recoil shield, backstrap and barrel. Please note; The Colt 1860 Army replaced the earlier Colt Dragoon models, offering a more streamlined and lighter design while still delivering a powerful .44 caliber shot. It's widely regarded for its reliability and balance, making it a favorite among soldiers and collectors alike. Primarily used by the Union Army during the Civil War and later by lawmen and civilians during the westward expansion. From Opplemans Trading & Exchange Co.
Condition: Very good as presented. Silver plating is a later addition, with a balanced mix of silver and original nickel plating showing light toning throughout. Plating remains visible over the brass furniture. The cylinder exhibits a moderate gouge or slice, with signs of repair work. The barrel serial number appears to have been refreshed to match the frame, suggesting a possible replacement. Grips show moderate age wear and minor shrinkage. Loading lever a bit wobbly. Mechanically, the revolver locks up intermittently, action needs to be assessed further. Bore is in serviceable condition.
