Description

Engraved Dreyse Revolving Rifle.
Unserialized, .44 caliber, 20 1/4-inch octagonal barrel with fixed front sight and rear folding leaf sight. Blued finish. Lightly scroll engraved receiver, breech, cylinder and triggerguard. Top of receiver marked: F.V. DREYSE SOMMERDA accented in gilt. Dual triggers. Triggerguard also features and engraved boar's head in gilt oval. Smooth walnut pistolgrip stock with grooved hard rubber butt. Original brass museum inventory tag attached: J.M. DAVIS / 10468 / MEMORIAL.
Sold to Benefit The JM Davis Collection at the JM Davis Arms and Historical Museum.

Condition: Very good. Retaining traces of finish in flutes of cylinder. The balance primarily a dark grey patina, with noticeable signs of age, handling wear and pitting. Few scattered scuffs and scratches to stock. Large rubber loss to base of butt. Action crisp. Bright bore.
