Description

Apollo 12: Gorham Silverplate 1970 Moonwalk Festival Revere Bowl from the Alan Bean Family Collection. A bowl with an outside diameter of 14", base diameter of 7.5", and a height of 7.5". Engraved on the side is: "To/ ALAN BEAN/ First Annual Moon Walk Festival/ Brevard County, Florida July 18. 1970". This was awarded to Bean on the first anniversary of Apollo 11's landing on the moon. At the time of this first "Moon Walk" festival, there were only four men who had ever experienced the thrill of actually walking on the moon: Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, Pete Conrad, and Alan Bean. A little research turned up news reports of a second festival in Florida the next year (1971), but we found no further mention in succeeding years. Brevard County, also known as the Space Coast, is home to Cape Canaveral and the Kennedy Space Center. Very fine condition with signs of honest wear; this would be a great addition to any space display.
