Cased Pre Civil War Trephining Kit.

An unusual and precise set used for cranial surgery, primarily used for neurosurgical procedures involving the skull. Set appears complete with boring, scraping and scooping tools among others [no markings present or found]. One single blade/scalpel sits flushed in a corner and it is marked WOOD. Nicely figured wooden handles adorn most of the tools. No label inside the red-velour lined wooden case with folding handle. Dimensions; 9 3/4 by 8-inches. Set appears to be post Civil War.

Condition: Fair as presented, with greater wear and use, moderate spots on blades. Handles with stress and handling wear. The wooden case inside with minor scuffs and wear, outer case with heavier handling wear, scratches and splits to edges; moderate fragility all around. Latches and folding handle with heavy wear. Key present.
