Description
Lot of Three Civil War Model Swords.Includes: 1.) Ames U.S. Model 1840 musicians' sword with a 28-inch straight blade and brass hilt. Obverse side stamped with the Ames logo; reverse side stamped "US / H.D.H. / 1864". Leather scabbard with brass throat and drag. 2.) U.S. Model 1860 Staff and Field officers' sword with a 29-inch straight, plated blade acid etched with panoplies of arms, an eagle and scroll work. Marked "J. H. McKenney & Co., N.Y." This is a post-Civil War issue sword. Metal scabbard with brass mounts and three carrying rings. 3.) Emerson & Silver U.S. Model 1840 noncommissioned officers' sword with a 32-inch straight blade and brass hilt. Obverse side of the blade with the Emerson & Silver logo; reverse stamped "US / DFM / 1863". The hilt is also inspector stamped "DFM".
Condition: 1.) Good. Blade with a gray patina, point dulled; hilt with only traces of gilt; scabbard has broken near the brass drag and has been crudely repaired with added leather. 2.) Excellent. 3.) Good. The blade exhibits a smooth gray patina. Lacking scabbard.
