Texas Ranger Weldon Lucas Cinco Peso Ranger Badge.

Constructed from a Mexican 1947 or 1948 issue five peso coin which has been hammered slightly convex and voided to create the Texas "Lone Star" central motif. The badge is engraved on the obverse WELDON LUCAS / CO. B. / TEXAS RANGERS, the letters highlighted with black paint and enhanced with additional floral accents. The reverse still retains traces of the die struck 5 peso coin and features a hinged pin and barrel catch for mounting.

Weldon Lucas had a 41 year career in Texas law enforcement. He served with Department of Public Safety as well as Sheriff of Denton County, Texas. He was a patrolman and sergeant with DPS before becoming a Texas Ranger. He has been enshrined in the Texas Ranger Hall of Fame. Praised as a law enforcement professional, he was also respected as a dedicated family man.
