Description

Texas Rangers Co. B Cinco Peso Ranger Badge.

Polished silver, constructed from a Mexican 1947 or 1948 issue five peso coin which has been hammered slightly convex and voided to create the Texas "Lone Star" central motif. The badge is engraved on the obverse DEPT. OF PUBLIC SAFETY / CO. B. / TEXAS RANGERS, the letters highlighted with black paint and enhanced with additional floral accents. The reverse still retains traces of the die struck 5 peso coin and features a hinged pin and barrel catch for mounting.

Company B of the Texas Rangers was established as part of the Frontier Battalion and played a key role in maintaining law and order in Texas. While its history includes notable law enforcement efforts, it also faced scrutiny, such as its involvement in the 1918 Porvenir massacre. Today, headquartered in Garland, Texas, Company B is the largest Ranger company, overseeing 42 counties and handling major investigations in collaboration with local, state, and federal agencies, continuing the Rangers' legacy of service and adaptability.

Condition: Fine, displaying wear from use. Light toning present.
