Formerly Owned by Multiple Texas Rangers.
Winchester Model 90 Slide Action Rifle Owned by Texas Ranger
Jerry Byrne, Retired Captain.Serial no. 659120 [receiver and lower tang], .22 short caliber, 24-inch octagonal barrel with fixed front sight and adjustable rear sight. Originally blued finish, now a matted finish. Smooth walnut stock and grooved fore-end. Crescent buttplate. Manufactured in 1926.
Gun is sold with documentation regarding ownership of this rifle. Letter typed from H. Joaquin Jackson letterhead states this Winchester was purchased by Ranger Dawson for $50.00 in 1976, signed Dub Dawson. At the bottom of the same letter, handwritten accounts described the same gun by serial number as being sold to Jerry Byrne, Retired Texas Ranger Capt. on the 26th Day, 2010 [signed H. Joaquin Jackson]. A second letter typed, this time from Jerry Byrne dated 8/15/16, states among other things that...."Captain Byrne provided Theis with a Winchester 1890, pump action rifle, .22 short, and serial number #695120. Captain Byrne obtained the rifle from retired Ranger Joaquin Jackson. Ranger Jackson obtained the rifle from the son of deceased Ranger Tol Jackson. Ranger Jackson obtained the rifle in 1950. A letter verifying these facts was provided to Theis."
Ranger Byrne Jr. was born in Gilmer, Texas. He was in service between 1994-2010 [Companies B, E. and HQ]. He attained the rank of Captain
Condition: Very good as configured, added matted finish overall with handling wear and patches of pitting. Scattered scuffs and dings present to wood which has been revarnished. Action good, bore ok.
