Kaiser Wilhelm II & The Crown Prince: Personal Standards.

Large 153" by 153" banners saved on November 9, 1918, the day of the revolution and before the fall of the Empire. A letter (and translation) along with the service book from the sailor who saved these from the revolutionaries accompanies the pieces. The banners were conserved with new linings and mountings by the Midwest Art Conservation Center.

Note: Previously sold in Christie's London Auction #4093, lots 56 and 57, November 8, 2006.
