Description
Smith (Poultney & Trimble) Percussion Breech-Loading Civil War Saddle Ring Carbine.Serial no. 4460, .50 caliber, 21 1/2-inch barrel with fixed front sight and rear folding ladder sight. Blued and case-hardened finish. Saddle ring. Smooth walnut straight stock and fore-end. JJC cartouche to left side of stock. Metal carbine buttplate.
Condition: Good. Finish primarily a dark grey patina with noticeable areas of handling wear and pitting. Heavy scuffs, dings and bruising present to wood, some wood loss at buttplate. Action not working, needs adjustment. Lightly pitted bore.
