Description
Civil War Burnside 1863 Breechloading Saddle Ring Carbine.Serial no. 9777 [frame and breechblock], .54 caliber, 21-inch barrel with fixed front sight and folding rear sight. Blued and case-hardened finish. H inspector mark to top of barrel. Large S stamped to breech. Saddle ring. Lockplate marked: BURNSIDE RIFLE CO. / PROVIDENCE R.I. Smooth walnut straight stock and fore-end. Sling swivel. Crescent metal buttplate.
Condition: Very good. Finish primarily a smooth grey patina with scattered signs of handling wear and fine patches of pitting. Scuffs, dings and bruising present to wood. Action functions. Lightly pitted bore.
