Description

1965 Apollo Logistics Training Book Signed by Nine Apollo Astronauts, Originally From the Personal Collection of Astronaut Gordon Cooper, with Signed LOA. Published by North American Aviation, revised August 9, 1965, RD-1000. This 8.5" x 5.5" softbound book contains more than 160 single sided pages with text and diagrams covering all aspects of the Apollo spacecraft and moon flights, a wealth of information. There are numerous notations made by Cooper throughout the manual as he studied for a potential place on an Apollo crew. The front cover has been signed as follows: "Wally Schirra/ Apollo 7", "Walt Cunningham/ Apollo 7", "Tom Stafford/ Apollo 10", "Alan Bean/ Apollo 12", "Fred Haise/ Apollo 13", "Charles M Duke Jr/ Apollo 16", "Richard Gordon/ Apollo XII", "Buzz Aldrin/ Apollo XI", and "Edgar Mitchell/ Apollo 14". A rare book even without the Cooper provenance or the multiple signatures. Well used with toned covers, very good condition overall.

Included with this lot is a letter of authenticity signed "Gordon Cooper" on his letterhead, stating: "The enclosed Apollo Logistics Training book is from my personal collection. It was a superbly illustrated reference guide to have around for Apollo training. It was issued just before my Gemini 5 flight and after my return at the end of August 1965, I started getting familiar with the Apollo systems. I continued my Apollo studies even while being assigned to the Gemini 12 back-up crew. The book was useful during many technical discussions. It has been signed by several Apollo astronauts over the years."
