U.S.N. and U.S. Marked Colt Model 1851 Navy Percussion Revolver.

Serial no. 56289 [barrel, frame, triggerguard, cylinder and butt, 6289 on wedge and loading lever], .36 caliber, 7 1/2-inch octagonal barrel with fixed front sight. Top of barrel one-line reads -ADDRESS SAML COLT NEW-YORK CITY-. Plated finish. COLTS / PATENT stamped to left side of frame along with U.S. underneath. U.S.N. marked on butt area of triggerguard. Iron triggerguard and backstrap. Smooth walnut one-piece grip.
Manufactured in 1856. Please note: Early-Navy Navy (Swayze page 86).

Condition: Very good as configured and cleaned. Finish currently is a plated tinned finish; moderate signs of handling and flaking. Age wear and pitting present. Refinished grips with repairs and small loss, with minor wear mostly to bottom section. Some marring to screws. Dings and scuffs present to wood. Action functions. Good bore.
