Scarce and Desirable High Condition Smith & Wesson .357 Registered Model Revolver with Original Box and Certificate.

Serial no. 46409 on butt [Reg. No. 213 inside of the yoke], 8 3/4-inch barrel with Call Gold Bead front sight on a ramp and rear sight. Blued finish with case-hardened trigger and hammer. Checkered walnut grips with Smith and Wesson medallions. Left side of barrel marked SMITH & WESSON. Right side marked S&W .357 MAGNUM. This gun is sold together with its original and important S&W box along with unidentified wooden rod, box is numbered to the gun with a sticker. Sold together with Registration Certificate stating configuration and as being registered to Walter C. Sherman of Rumford, R.I. Two Smith and Wesson letters included in the sale, one dated in 1984 and another in 2015 [both by Roy G. Jinks], mention the gun by serial number and registration number as being shipped from the factory on June 20, 1935 and sold to Providence Police Department, Walter C. Sherman, Providence, R.I. 2015 letter also states "This revolver was sighted in at 200 yard with .357 Magnum ammunition using a 6 o'clock hold and at 20 yards with .38 S&W Special mid-range ammunition." Included also is an invoice from noted S&W dealer Bill Drollinger confirming configuration.

Condition: Excellent. Retaining approximately 98% plus of the original bright high polish finish with a minor flake of the finish to right side of frame and a tiny rub near muzzle on the the right. There is a faint drag line on cylinder. Dried grease inside yoke area. The original grips are excellent and matching with a small indentation that appears to be just a factory flaw. Mechanically sound with all screws in perfect condition. Bore excellent. Blue S&W box fine to excellent with minor scuffs and wear to edges. The label on the bottom of the box is clearly legible showing both the serial number and the registration number of the gun. Wooden rod excellent with trivial wear. A truly rare and desirable Smith and Wesson, we believe it would be almost impossible to find a better example with its original box and registration certificate.
