Model 1836 Flintlock Martial Pistol by Asa Waters.

Unserialized, .54 caliber, 8 1/2-inch round barrel with proofs US / JH / P on breech. "I V" stamping on tang of triggerguard. Brass blade front sight and oval shape rear sight. Swivel type steel ramrod. Blued trigger. Case-hardened lockplate, hammer and frizzen, all other parts were finished bright originally. No cartouches present on left side of stock. Lockplate marked A.H. WATERS & CO. / MILBURY MASS / 1844 forward of hammer. Brass flashpan. Made between 1836 to 1844, this particular example is 1 of 3,000 made in the configuration, lock date of 1844.
Note: This was an improved version of the Model 1826 pistol and this was the last U.S. martial pistol produced in the flintlock ignition system. See Flayderman's Guide [6A-032].

Condition: Good to very good for this model, but gun mostly a plum brown finish, heavy traces of nicotine residue/stains and now has some moderate signs of pitting throughout. Stock with dings and mars present, stress crack underneath by triggerguard which has continued forward of lock as well. Action good, bore ok.
