Civil War Burnside Third Model 1862 Saddle Ring Carbine.

Serial no. 21430 [breechblock and receiver], .54 caliber, 21-inch barrel with fixed front sight and rear folding sight. Barrel marked: CASTSTEEL 1862. BURNSIDE'S PATENT / MARCH 25TH, 1856 to top of receiver. Saddle ring. Lockplate marked: BURNSIDE RIFLE CO. / PROVIDENCE R.I. Smooth walnut straight stock and fore-end. Sling swivel. Crescent metal buttplate.

Condition: Very good. Finish primarily a bright grey patina with scattered signs of handling wear and patches of pitting. Date on barrel is fading. Noticeable dings, scuffs and bruising present to wood. Action good. Moderately pitted bore.
