Early European Bell Cup Rapier.

Overall length 45 1/2-inches. The 37-inch tapered straight blade of diamond section with a single median fuller, the valley of the fuller stamped with partially legible letters: AONT?ANTOLA?EO. The bell cup guard is pierced with floral scrolls and framed by a roped outer rim. A spiral-patterned crossguard terminates in cone finials, complemented by a single-bar knucklebow with matching spiral detail. The one-piece horn grip is carved in a spiral motif, leading to a pierced orb-shaped pommel with button finial. Ricasso marked in white paint: "284/JKL," denoting the collection of John Kingsley Lattimer. No scabbard. Notably, this sword was previously sold by Heritage Auctions in 2012.

Condition: Very good. Metal with grey patina with scattered light pitting present. Minor period repair to base of blade (ricasso area) with some discoloration present. Grip with light wear overall. Ex. John K. Lattimer Collection.
