Description

Group of Eight Japanese Yanone Including Five Yanagi-ba (Willow Leaf) and Three Karimata (Forked).

The group includes five forged steel arrowheads of elongated willow leaf form (yanagi-ba), tapering to a fine point with slightly curved, graceful edges. The shape derives its name from the willow leaf and was one of the most common functional types of yanone. They represent the martial practicality of samurai archery, in contrast to the more decorative forms intended for ceremony or display. The five have tips ranging from 1 ¾-inches to 2 ½-inches and range from 6 ¼ to 9-inches overall. Three examples are signed. Two of the three karimata are signed and have tips ranging in size from 1 ¾-inches to 2 ¾-inches and range from 7 to 8-inches overall.

Condition: All examples in very good condition.
