Description

Henry Wallace et al: 1948 Third Party Buttons. The 1948 election had two major third parties and everybody expected incumbent Harry Truman to be defeated in his run for a second term in office. We offer six third party pins from that election. There is one Wallace picture pin in unusually clean condition, a rare 1 1/4" slogan pin (Vote for Wallace) and two small name pins. The other two pins, both 1 1/4", are homemade jobs. One covered in plastic shows the logo of the States' Rights Party headed by Thurmond & Wright. The other has a paper decal (no plastic) that reads: "Norman Thomas Socialist Party For President". We have no reason to believe that these last two pins were not legitimate campaign items, produced by a campaign worker in 1948.
