Description

Samuel J. Tilden: Brass Snuff Box. By the election of 1876, the practice of "taking snuff" had pretty much died out, so the person who owned this brass snuff box must have been an old-timer with some die-hard habits. The box measures 3" x 2" x 3/4" and has an extended patent date of January 24, 1860. It is neatly engraved on the lid "Tilden & Hendricks". It has only nominal wear and is likely a one-of-a-kind, custom job.
