Description

Abraham Lincoln: Patriotic Memorial Cased Display. Someone went to a lot of trouble back in 1865 to craft this display honoring the Martyr President. It is housed in a thermoplastic case. There is a gem frame suspended from a flag ribbon and eagle hanger, surrounded by silk American flags. The gem frame contains a photograph on glass on Lincoln holding a newspaper in his lap. It does not correspond to any known photographs of Lincoln, so may have been copied from a lithograph or painting. A window has been cut out and the gem photo is set snugly in place. The back is lined with old newspaper and the foldover corners have been soldered together. In addition, a black ribbon has been attached to the bottom of the case which could be placed behind the photo or simply left hanging beneath the photo. It's obviously unique so there is nothing to compare it to!
