Description
Zachary Taylor: Two "Inauguration" Memorial Ribbons. Two silk ribbons for Zachary Taylor, each mounted with linen tape to a sheet. While ostensibly memorial ribbons, they appear to have been issued at the time of the inauguration with memorial overprints added later. The larger one, 3" x 8", is most unusual and was issued by the "Democratic Whig General Committee" and printed by Robinson & Ells at No. 7 Theatre Alley. The other example is 2 1/2" x 7 1/2" and probably started out life as a campaign ribbon. Both with original sheen.Auction Info
