Description

Al Smith: Brown Derby Special. Hollywood had its "Brown Derby", but New York had its "Brown Derby" as well. It was the trademark hat of Governor Al Smith and was used extensively during his 1928 run for the White House. This 7/8" button with Torsch & Franz back paper is probably the best of the slogan or name pins issued that year that incorporate the trademark bowler. It reads: "What's Under Your Hat? Al. Smith for President." We don't recall seeing any of these offered at auction, but we know a Baltimore area collector that had one. This might be the same one! It is in mint condition. If you are lucky enough to win this one, don't "keep it under your hat!"
