Description

William McKinley: Rare Eclipse Button. The solar eclipse of 1900 spawned a series of presidential campaign buttons incorporating that theme. Some are rarer than others. This 1 ¼" example is one of the better designs and shows McKinley eclipsing Bryan (a Bryan mate exists, as well). It is inscribed "Eclipse Will Be Total Nov. 6th 1900" [election day]. Printed in black and silver, it has a Whitehead & Hoag back paper. There is a small area of staining on the bottom edge which tends to blend in and detracts minimally.
