Description
Horatio Seymour: Racist Slogan Badge. 1 1/8" x 1 3/4" fob with bust of Liberty inscribed "This Is A White Man's Government". This was the 1868 campaign slogan of Seymour & Blair. This desirable badge typically is seen as a silvered brass shell stickpin. In this case, the silvered brass shell component has been firmly affixed to a nickel sheet, cut-to-size, with a loop at the top. Condition is excellent. The image of Lady Liberty recalls Copperhead badges issued in the election of 1864.Auction Info
