Description

Abraham Lincoln: Funeral-Used 34-Star U.S. Flag. This 46" x 72" flag has 34 stars (January 1861 to June 1863) in the "Great Star" pattern. According to the accompanying provenance, it was hand-made by Sarah Ann Pickard (1827-1886) and flown along the route in one of Lincoln's funeral processions. It was also flown following the 9/11 disaster. It is completely hand-sewn on thin cotton. There are cut-out stars sewn on both sides of the canton and four sections of cord attached to the hoist. It is fairly delicate. It is frayed in spots along the right edge and has several splits in the stripes, most notably a 31" split on the fourth stripe. There are also some minor old repairs. Properly mounted and framed, it will be quite impressive.
