Description

Abraham Lincoln: Dated 1864 Britannia Ice Pitcher. 11" plated or Britannia-ware ice pitcher with hinged lid surmounted by a polar bear. A 1" Abraham Lincoln campaign medal dated 1864 is imbedded on one side, surrounded by a laurel wreath, flanked by oak and berry leaves, beneath an American shield and displayed flags. The reverse side has the name of the owner, Annie Picken, within a central cartouche, surrounded by répousée floral designs. There is a great deal of decorative beading. It is unmarked. Outside of a small hole beneath the bear on one side, it is in excellent condition. Given the Lincoln decoration, it may be considered a presidential campaign item.
