John Brown: Pair of CDV's. John Brown, the organizer of the failed raid at Harper's Ferry, is shown at different times of his life in this pair of CDV's. The more youthful portrait is a copy image of a daguerreotype or salt print with back stamp of the Philadelphia Photographic Company. It is a rare image in any format. The other CDV is a slightly retouched copy image of a salt print of Brown showing him with a long beard (no photographer's credit). This is the image most commonly associated with Brown.
