New York: Samuel Golman, 1839. First edition. Twelvemo. 139 pages. With eight engravings. Illustrated front cover over boards with cloth backstrip. Covers worn with some toning and staining. Abrasions to edges and spine. Split to front hinge. Nibbling to top of front board and top edge and corner, not affecting text. Light toning and foxing. Generally, a very good copy. "The etchings with which the book is illustrated have the inscriptions, Fungus Del Little Nap Sc, or Fungus Del Little Ben Sc. D. C. Johnston, who had illustrated the "Life and Writings of Major Jack Downing" in 1833, was one of the few etchers working in the country at the time, and was possibly the artist." Sabin 36147, 84145.
