Publisher's black cloth, lettered and ruled in red on front cover and spine. Top edge stained red. In original publisher's black and red striped dust jacket by Arthur Hawkins (price-clipped). Minor rubbing to board edges, most noticeable on the bottom edge. A few bumps to the edges. Front board a touch bowed. Remnants of removed bookplate on front pastedown. Small dark stain to top edge of text block. Chipping of dust jacket at spine ends, heavier at bottom edge. Smaller chip along bottom edge of rear panel. Occasional small areas of wear and loss along edges. Minor tape repairs to verso of dust jacket at the spine head. A few small tears along the spine folds, the longest measuring three-and-one-quarter inches. Overall, a very good copy.
Faulkner's third novel, and the first of his Yoknapatawpha County novels.
