Two twelvemo volumes. 236; 232 plus 8-page publisher's catalog dated May, 1835. Publisher's textured blue boards with paper title label to spines; top edges stained blue. Both volumes cocked. Bindings worn; paper spine labels mostly worn away. Foxing throughout. Ownership names and short note in pencil to preliminary pages. In individual green cloth chemises and housed together in a double quarter leather book-backed slipcase. Good. Fictionalized account of the notorious pirate. [and:] Don C. Seitz. The Buccaneers, Rough Verse. New York: Harper & Brothers, 1912. First edition, second issue (with "K-M" on copyright page). Inscribed by Seitz to George F. Spinney, publisher of The New York Times, dated 1912. Octavo. 52 pages. Illustrated color frontispiece behind tissue guard, and small woodcuts, by Howard Pyle. Publisher's gilt-lettered black cloth, with orange-bordered illustrated paper inset to front board. Top edge gilt. Gilt lettering dulled. Extremities lightly rubbed; a couple of scratches to front board. Rubber stamp to front free endpaper, perhaps from a private library. In stiff black cloth wrapper, with "Autograph Presentation Copy" and "First Edition/1912" stamped in gilt on spine. In worn slipcase. Very good. Light verse.
