Description

A Controversial Heinlein, Signed

Robert A. Heinlein. Sixth Column. New York: Gnome Press, [1949].

First edition, first printing. Signed by the author on title page. Octavo. 256 pages.

Publisher's black cloth with red titles. Minor wear to cloth with a slight lean to spine. Offsetting to endpapers. Lightly foxed page edges and mild toning to pages. Modest dampstaining to bottom edge of rear board, not affecting textblock. Bookplate on front pastedown. Dust jacket is worn with chipping, mild fading to spine and dampstaining to bottom edge. Overall, a very good copy.

Still a controversial book sixty years after its publication for its portrayal of racism. Arguments have raged for years between Heinlein fans and critics over his views on several subjects, with racism generating some of the most heated discussions.

Currey, p. 234.
