Description
Garth Williams. Illustration #12, Charlotte's Web.Garth Williams. Original studies of illustration #12 (appearing on page 36) of Charlotte's Web, 1952: Wilbur meets Charlotte. Pencil on paper. Three sheets measuring 10.875 x 8.5 inches. Each sheet initialed by Williams. With Williams' notation in blue ink: "I like Wilbur at door post looking up at Charlotte" (Williams has drawn two Wilburs in one scene -- one at the doorway, one approaching the barn). And with his notations in pencil: "rougher fence...move...empty trough...no sheep near." Fine. From the Estate of Garth Williams.
