Charles Beaumont. The Hunger and Other Stories. New York: Putnam, [1957]. First edition, first printing. Inscribed and signed by the author, "10/13/65 / For Jack Cordes, / with best wishes - / Chuck Beaumont" on the front free endpaper. Octavo. 234 pages. Publisher's gray buckram with spine titles in white and baby blue. Original pictorial dust jacket. Minor wear to board edges and corners. Mild bump to top corner of text. Minor tape(?) abrasion to the inscription. Light rubbing and tiny areas of loss to the spine and flap fold ends of the dust jacket. Spine lightly sunned. One small one-inch by one-inch closed abrasion to the rear panel of the jacket, flattened out. Overall, a very good copy of a book rarely found signed. Beaumont died of a mysterious illness at the early age of 38 just over two years after this inscription was penned. From the collection of first fan, Jack Cordes.Auction Info
