Description

[Civil War Newspaper] The Boston Daily Advertiser. Four pages (in two cut sheets), 21.25" x 29", January 29, 1864, with an advertisement for "Mr. Everett's Gettysburg Address." Also includes Civil War political and military news. Near fine.

More Information:

Before Abraham Lincoln gave his now famous Gettysburg Address, Edward Everett delivered a two hour oration which initially received more attention than Lincoln's short address. Included with "Mr. Everett's Gettysburg Address" were other Gettysburg memorabilia, including, dismissively, President Lincoln's address: "With an Introduction, containing a History of the Cemetery, an account of the Ceremony of Dedication, with President Lincoln's Remarks, and the other exercises of the occasion."
