Description

[Revolutionary War] Revolutionary War Receipt for Gunpowder Signed "Abraham Drake". One page, 7.75" x 5.25", May 12, 1777, Exeter, New Hampshire, fine condition. The document reads, in full: "We the Subscribers Promise to pay Nath. Folsom or his order for the use of this State of New Hampshire thirty two Pounds Eight Shillings Lawful money it being for one hundred & eight Pounds of Powder Recd. Belonging to said State Exeter May the 12th 1777...". The document is additionally signed "David Martson". Abraham Drake (1715-1781) served as a Lt. Colonel in the Revolution and commanded the 2nd New Hampshire Militia Regiment during the Saratoga Campaign.
