[John Brown of Osawatomie] Two John Brown Jr. Autograph Letters Signed. The two letters, John Brown Jr.'s retained copies, are also signed by Owen Brown (Ruth B. Thompson has signed one). Both dated 1884 regarding the tenancy transfer of an eighty acre tract of land owned by the Browns in New York. Very good to fine.More Information:
(1) John Brown Jr. and Owen Brown ALS. Two pages, 6" x 9", December 13, 1884, "Put in Bay Ottawa County, Ohio", to W. R. Peacock of North Elba, New York, a tenant. Peacock had been occupying the tract illegally for the past year. Age toned with folds; very good.
(2) John Brown Jr., Owen Brown, and Ruth Thompson ALS. One page, 8" x 10.5", November 19, 1884, "Bay Island Lake Erie Ottawa Co Ohio", to Mr. Lyman Epps of North Elba, New York. In this letter, the Browns give immediate possession of the eighty acre tract to Epps for one year. On lined paper; fine.
