Description

Admiral of the Fleet John Rushworth Jellicoe Typed Letter Signed "J. Jellicoe." One page, 7" x 7", on The Mall letterhead, January 9, 1918, to "Miss Whitty". The Commander of the British Fleet at the Battle of Jutland politely declines an invitation, writing in part: "I very much regret to say that it will be quite impossible for me to preside at the meeting...as I shall be out of town on February 8th." Some toning and a few trivial wrinkles and the usual fold creases, else in very good condition.
