Description
Two Checks Signed by Alvah C. Roebuck and George Hartford respectively. 8" x 2.75" and 8.5" x 3.25". Dated December 4, 1894, the first check is made out to "Sears Roebuck & Co." from Warner, Taylor, and Curtis, and endorsed on verso "A. C. Roebuck," co-founder of Sears Roebuck & Co. The second check, dated November 18, 1913, is signed "Geo H. Hartford," president of The Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company; or "A & P", which would originate the concept of the chain store. Both void punched and stamped on recto by banks. Some toning to each.Auction Info
