Description

[Queen Anne]. Indenture from the Reign of Queen Anne. Two vellum pages, 21.25" x 16", Bristol, October 25, 1707, for the sum of two hundred pounds for the purchase of land following the marriage of two of the parties listed. Some minor damage along the folds resulting in some loss of paper and text. Slight water damage to both pages fading some of the text on the first page near the lower edge. Uneven toning and scattered spots of foxing.

More Information:

When Anne, the last of the Stuart monarchs, died without issue in 1714, the crown passed to her closest Protestant relative (the 1701 Act of Settlement barred any Roman Catholic from attaining the throne), her German second cousin, George I.
