Description

William C. Durant Typed Letter Signed "W. C. Durant." One page, 8.25" x 11", on Republic Motor Company letterhead, New York, September 26, 1913, to W. M. Campbell of the Montreal General Hospital in Quebec, Canada, in part: "As soon as you are in position to take up the work again, we will be only too glad to discuss the handling of the territory formerly controlled by you. The new models have been received favorably and the rush of orders is so great that we are declining all new business for the time being." Weakened folds show some separation, especially at the intersections. One inch tear at the left edge has been repaired on the verso. Two small areas of staining and overall toning.

William Durant (1861-1947) was an early pioneer in the auto industry who co-founded General Motors with Frederic L. Smith and Chevrolet with Louis Chevrolet.
