Dwight D. Eisenhower Typed Letter Signed "Dwight Eisenhower." One page, 8" x 10.5", September 25, 1944. A personal letter to Colonel T. A. Roberts, Eisenhower discusses his opinion of communication in the armed forces. In part: "If I should ever reach the point where my old associates and my predecessors, both on the active and retired list, can no longer communicate with me freely, then in my opinion I would not be a true member of the regular Army of the United States as I like to conceive it." With original envelope and photo copy of original letter from Roberts. On official stationery imprinted "Supreme Headquarters / Allied Expeditionary Force / Office of the Supreme Commander." With smoothed folds and mild toning. Envelope has damage occurring at time of opening.
