Description

Ethan Allen Clipped Signature. 3.25" x 1", mounted to a card to an overall size of 4" x 2.25". Allen (1738-1789), a veteran of the French and Indian War and one of the founders of Vermont, led the famed Green Mountain Boys, a militia group founded in the 1760s. At the beginning of the Revolutionary War, they captured Fort Ticonderoga [1775]. He led an invasion of Montreal later that year, but was captured and imprisoned by the British. Released in 1778, her returned home where he spent the remainder of the war.
