Description
Ethan Allen Clipped Signature. 3.25" x 1", mounted to a card to an overall size of 4" x 2.25". Allen (1738-1789), a veteran of the French and Indian War and one of the founders of Vermont, led the famed Green Mountain Boys, a militia group founded in the 1760s. At the beginning of the Revolutionary War, they captured Fort Ticonderoga [1775]. He led an invasion of Montreal later that year, but was captured and imprisoned by the British. Released in 1778, her returned home where he spent the remainder of the war.Auction Info
