Description
Very Scarce Coolidge U.S. Mint Assay Medal for 1924 Although Coolidge was not elected president in his own right until November of 1924, he had been the incumbent president since Harding's death in 1923. This massive, high-relief bronze medal is an official Mint issue, and bears the incused name of the recipient, "Mr. Homer L. Pound," on the edge. Patina a lovely light chocolate, and it is in virtually uncirculated condition. There is a small area of surface discoloration under and by the "IDG" in Coolidge on the obverse, which appears to have resulted from an oily fingerprint left long ago. Two very small areas of verdigris in the detail on reverse. The last example we know of at auction fetched over $700 a decade ago. From the Larry Krug Collection.Auction Info
