Description

Buzz Aldrin's Space Flown Cutting Tool Used on the Apollo 11 Mission, With Original Velcro Still Attached. Measuring 8" in length, this stainless steel hand tool was used on the lunar module by Buzz Aldrin on Apollo 11. Aldrin was the lunar module pilot on Apollo 11, and the second man to step foot on the moon after Neil Armstrong. This wonderful item is an authentic artifact of that Apollo 11 mission. The part number and serial number of the tool can be seen near the hinge, and are as follows: part number "P/N SDB42100059-202" and serial number "S/N 1015". Both numbers are partially obscured by two small squares of velcro, also flown on Apollo 11. Aldrin and Armstrong color-coded the velcro attached to their various tools and manuals. Aldrin's color was blue, and the original blue space flown velcro is still attached to the sides of the shears. The tool is still in good working order despite adhesive residue on the teeth from its use as a cutting tool. Overall, it is in excellent condition. This is a truly unique opportunity to acquire Buzz Aldrin's personal cutting tool, with the original velcro attached, used on NASA's historic mission to the moon. From the personal collection of Dr. Buzz Aldrin and accompanied by a signed Letter of Authenticity from him.
