Description

Zachary Taylor: A Spectacular, Pristine Daguerreotype of a Print Showing the Presidents Up Through Incumbent Taylor. Tremendous visual appeal to this mint condition beauty. It is unclear why people had these made, but they were clearly popular at the time, as we have seen various early images of political prints, including one of the 1860 Lincoln & Hamlin Currier Grand National Banner. Perhaps they were carried as pocket pieces, or displayed open on a shelf or desk. This example is in simply amazing condition, what in baseball cards is termed a "blazer!" Light wear to the presumably original simulated leather embossed case supports the theory that it may have been carried. A unique period item for a very tough candidate. Measures 6.5" x 3.5" displayed open.
