Description
Printed General Orders Nos. 309 & 253 Regarding Union General George Ramsay. Each order is a single page measuring approximately 5" x 7.5". General Order No. 309 was issued on September 14, 1863 and announces the retirement of General James Ripley and the promotion if Ramsay to take his place as Chief or Ordnance at Washington. General Order No. 253 was issued the following year on September 10, 1864 and announces Ramsay's retirement. Both orders are signed in type by E.D. Townsend. From the Estate of Malcolm S. Forbes.Condition: Both orders have file holes along the left margin. With toning and some light creasing. Order 309 has a stray pencil mark at top left.
