A scarce salesman's dummy copy of Wells' last major work of fantasy. The mock-up is identical in most every respect to an actual copy including the publisher's red cloth with titles in gilt on the spine and front board. The top edge is gilt. The sample contains the author's catalog, title page and copyright page as normal with the first nine pages of the first chapter. Following that are 26 (of the original 31) pages of perforated pre-publication order forms. The remainder of the sample's pages are blank. This scarce volume is in fine condition.
