[Fore-edge Painting]. Edward Young. Night Thoughts, and a Paraphrase on Part of The Book of Job. London: Printed at the Chiswick Press, 1812. Octavo. With fore-edge painting of a street scene. Engraved frontispiece portrait of the author. Bookplate. Bound in full brown straight-grain morocco with decorative gilt paneled boards, eight raised spine bands with gilt titles and decorations in compartments, all edges gilt, gilt inner dentelles. Front board with its free endpaper detached. Binding rubbed and lightly soiled, edges and corners bumped, small tears at head and foot of spine. Minor foxing (heavier on frontis and title page), image off-set and small ink number on title page. Pencil annotation on front fly-leaf: "Very fine fore-edge painting of Hampton Court". Very good rebinding copy.Auction Info
