Description

Henrietta Szold Typed Letter Signed. Two pages, 7 x 8 3/8 inches (sight), "Eden Hotel," Jerusalem; June 5, 1932. Matted and framed alongside a nameplate and photograph portrait of Szold, to an overall size of 42 1/2 x 28 inches. A letter to "Mrs. Morris Sheer," in which Szold discusses her ongoing collaboration with Ida Silvermann to provide aid to Palestinian children through her organization, Hadassah. In part:

"Mrs. Archibald Silvermann conferred upon me the pleasure of being her intermediary in applying the parting gift which she received from you to be used as she desired in Palestine...My suggestion was that it be put into the Milk Fund for Babies. Let me tell you the reason for my selecting among the dozens and dozens of social service purposes precisely this purpose. Doubtless you know that in Hadassah we have been boasting of our good results in reducing infant mortality in Palestine to a very remarkable degree. You can therefore imagine our disappointment when suddenly it was discovered that we had lost ground."

Signed, "Henrietta Szold."

Condition: Not examined out of frame. Lightly age-toned with smoothed folds and light creases. A few chips and scuffs to the frame.
